Dive Trips
In addition to projects, the Underwater Archaeological Society of British Columbia also conducts simple dive trips. These dive trips are generally organized by an experienced UASBC wreck diver, with the goal of bringing other divers of all training and experience levels to a known BC shipwreck. Dive trips do not entail any archaeological goals. They are an opportunity for newer divers to explore a new (to them) shipwreck, and for seasoned divers to gain more experience with wreck diving while observing the natural shipwreck deterioration process in our waters.
Even the most experienced wreck divers learn something new, virtually every time they dive a shipwreck. Topside in-between dives, UASBC members get the opportunity to talk, laugh and get to know other members. Whatever your level of training or experience is, we hope to see you out on our next dive trip!

Port Alberni - Immigrant Ship Rusty

We will travel to Port Alberni to do a dive in Underwood Cove on the artificial reef, Rusty.
Technical Dive on the Henry Foss.
Sunday, March 1, 2026 (All day)
The Henry Foss is a wooden diesel tug that sank in 1959 with the loss of six lives in Captains Passage near Ganges BC. The wreck lies in 33 meters (105 feet) of water. The superstructure is gone but much of the lower hull is still extant and covered in plumose anemones. The prop and anchor remain on site. The goal of the dive will be to get technical divers working as a group to make and record observations and photograph the wreck as much as possible.
Smyth Head Reef Net Site

We will return to the Smyth Head Reef Net site to continue our search for reef net anchor stones and to try get more accurate GPS locations on the existing anchor stones.
We will depart from Pedder Bay. Cost: $100.00 per person.
Kootenays Wreck Trek

Several tasks will be completed during this 3-day trip. There will be diving on known sites in Slocan Lake for the benefit of new members. Documentation work will be completed on a new wreck in Slocan Lake and Bill hopes to complete some side scan work along the Nakusp waterfront. Bamfield Wreck Trek

Barkley Sound is the current UASBC project area. The goal is to visit several wreck sites depending on weather conditions. The Mascotte was a salvage vessel that caught fire and burnt in Pachena Bay in 1895. If conditions permit, we hope to visit the freighter Tuscan Prince lost during a storm in 1923. The Vanlene loaded with Dodge Colt cars is always a group favorite.
